From smarter notifications to automation, these updates are all about saving you time, reducing errors, and making payroll a whole lot less stressful.
Let’s break down the top changes that’ll make your life easier and your payroll processes smoother.
Enable Logging on User-Defined Process Configuration Group Enforced
How many times has this happened? You enable logging to troubleshoot an issue, forget about it, and hours later, the system slows to a crawl. Frustration builds, and then it finally clicks, excessive logging is the culprit. Somewhere, someone is now sweating in guilt.
Well, the solution is simple: just turn it off. But let’s be honest, it’s easy to miss. Thankfully, with the new 25B release, Oracle applications offer a more streamlined approach to managing logging. Instead of enabling logging system-wide by default, it can now be set for specific processes.
And to keep you from falling into the same old habit, Oracle 25B will now throw an error message if you try to add or update logging parameters in the default group. So next time Oracle stops you with an error, it’s just saving you from a logging nightmare!
Flow Instance Name Defaulting Using Business Rules
When it comes to payroll implementations, maintaining a consistent naming convention for payroll flows is essential. It’s not just about meeting system requirements for unique flow names but also making it easier to search for past flows.
In the past, you probably relied on runbooks or memory to stick to naming conventions. But with the latest update, you can now define business rules in VB Studio using Legislative Data Group and Flow Name parameters.
This feature doesn’t force you to abandon your traditional naming conventions; it simply gives you the option to streamline and automate the process. After all, if you can automate it, why not?
Process Results Detail – Task Iteration
If your business manages multiple TRUs and payrolls, you’ve probably wished for a way to run a single flow and have the system automatically submit iterations for other TRUs. With Oracle’s new Submit Another Task feature, part of the redesigned Redwood pages, it is now a reality.
This feature simplifies payroll processing by allowing you to define rules for task iterations. A small change? Maybe. But for payroll teams handling complex workflows, it’s a huge time-saver. For example, you could automatically submit year-end reports for each TRU without manually triggering them one by one.
The Submit Another Task page provides a clear overview of each iteration, allowing you to track progress, view details, and take corrective action when needed – resulting in less manual effort, fewer delays, and greater efficiency.
Offset Account for Payroll Relationship Level Elements using Assignment Attributes
A few releases ago, Oracle introduced costing based on assignment attributes for cost accounts at the element eligibility level. This allowed payroll relationship-level costing to be derived from attributes like departments, jobs, positions, and people groups.
Now, this functionality has been extended to offset accounts as well. This means that payroll relationship elements can now use assignment attributes for offset accounts, taking precedence over the regular offset account defined at the element eligibility level.
To manage this change, Oracle provides a process configuration parameter: “Date used to enable element eligibility hierarchy changes.” This parameter controls when the new costing hierarchy comes into effect. By default, it applies to any costing processes submitted on or after 1st June 2025. However, organisations can adjust this date to a later time if they prefer to defer adoption of the new hierarchy.
This enhancement ensures that both cost and offset accounts align more closely with assignment attributes, offering more accurate and configurable payroll costing.
Customise Payroll Activity Center, Your Way

Redwood Enhancements

- Person Results – Quick access to Statements of Earnings, QuickPay, and process histories, so you can track everything in a snap.
- Messages – Payroll notifications for errors or warnings are now front and center, meaning less digging, more doing – review, approve, and manage without extra clicks.
- Process Results Details – Keep an eye on task status and troubleshoot in real time with clearer, more intuitive monitoring.
- Smarter Notifications – Alerts now appear right inside the Payroll Activity Center, so you can take action instantly instead of hunting them down.
- Bank Search by Branch – No more scrolling endlessly – search for banks by routing number, sort code, or transit number directly during account setup.
